Nandrolone Decanoate
Nandrolone, an anabolic steroid is most commonly and commercially sold in its decanoate ester form. Derived from testosterone, Nandrolone Decanoate is used for treating bone pain caused due to osteoporosis, enhancing muscle mass and stimulating the growth of bones. The steroid increases the size of red blood cells and hemoglobin, thereby enhancing the oxygen carrying capacity of blood. Other positive aspects include appetite stimulation and treatment against certain neoplasia forms including breast cancer. This protein based contraceptive is usually indicated for anemia management of renal sufficiency. Nandrolone Decanoate, an injectable derivative from 19- nortestosterone has been approved by the FDA for treating anemia in both men and women suffering from chronic renal failure.
Injection of Nandrolone Decanoate is intended only for deep intramuscular inoculation, preferably into gluteus muscle. Dosage is based completely on therapeutic responses and consideration of benefit to risk fraction. The duration of therapy depends on response, condition and reaction of patient to adverse reactions. A dose of near about 50- 100 mg per week is endorsed for women whereas for men, it’s between 100- 200 mg per week. If there is no hematologic improvement seen within the initial six months, then the use of drug therapy must be discontinued. For small children of 2 to 13 years age, the normal dosage is 25 -50 mg in every three or four weeks. Prior to administration, the parental drug products need to be visually inspected for discoloration and particulate matter.
The side effects of Nandrolone Decanoate (Deca) as seen in men, women and children are significantly different. Male hormone testosterone contained in Nandrolone causes women to develop male like features including increased body hair and facial hair, deepening of voice, increased muscle mass and enlargement of clitoris. Some women may even develop fertility problems, decreased or increased libido and menstrual irregularities. A lot of these male features are irreversible even when the patient stops taking the drug. Adverse side effects in men include painful and frequent erections, decreased or increased sex drive, baldness, inability of achieving an erection, lowered sperm count, testicle problems, prostrate enlargement, urinating problems and fertility issues. The use of Nandrolone Decanoate in children usually results in stunted growth due to premature epiphyses growth. Early closure of epiphyses generally inhibits the increase of height in children. It is mandatory to monitor kids taking Nandrolone Decanoate medication for bone growth in every six months.

The 5a- reductase enzyme contained in this drug converts testosterone to DHT, a more potent compound and transforms Nandrolone to a somewhat less potent compound.
